Has anyone insight as to whether PME will run under Windows 8? I'm currently running Version 6.5 under Windows 7 with no problems.

ifix 5.1 problem writing AO tag

I have an application that needs to set the values for some analog output tags (AO).Then using the OPC Client driver to pass it to process.
Operating limits for AO tag are from 0 to 250.
When the value is changed ie. set AO to 70 instead writing 70 to PDB value is set to 82.
I did some tests and I noticed when I change limits of AO tag from 0 to 90 it allows me to set the AO tag value to desired number.
I am using OPC client ver. 7.41f.

Any idea how to solve this.

Collector with negative compression

I'm wondering about the negative compression of the opc collector. It started with negative compression rate of -50% 3 weeks ago after I had to restart the collector because it failed and stopped. Now it has a compression of -10 %.

My Questions:
Why do I have a negative compression for this long time?
I thought that the store&forward-buffer will be emptied immediately after a failure.
It it possible to ramp up this compensation time?
What will happened when this collector fails again?

Here some system informations:
# Proficy Historian 3.1
# 3000 Tags
# Consuptions Rate 100-150 MB/Day
Collector - General Tab:
# Total Events Collected 162276250
# Total Events Reported 179026680
# Memory Buffer Size 20 MB
# Minimum Free Space 150 MB

Thanks!

I need to know how to clear or reset the data from a SD block while a picture is running?

When our manufacturing line runs I have a need to clear the SD block when the manufacturing order/product changes so the x-bar chart will only display data for the current manufacturing order/product.

Time Stamping: Alarms and Events

We are facing a problem with timestamping of events in iFIX (5.1). For DI tags, if we are configuring alarm option as "Enable Alarming", alarm is logging to database with device time as timestamp. But if alarm option is "Enable Event Messaging", Event is logging to database with PC/Server Machine time as timestamp. Our requirement is to display historical alarms and events with timestamp from the device. How to achieve this for event messages?

Profinet Scanner IC695PNS001 configuration

$

We are in the early phases of converting our aging (!) 9070 and Genius block system to, as recommended by GE, an RX3i, using Profinet communications to remote rx3i I/O racks. I have the redundant IC695CRU320 configuration built up in ME 7.5 SIM 4, inclluding IC695RMX128 Redundancy Memory Xchange modules and all was going well. I started on the remote I/O racks, and found no traces of a Profinet-connected remote rack, and no references to the IC695PNS001 Profinet Scanners that GE recommended for each remote rack. I am hearing through the non-GE grapevine that the IC695PNS001 is not scheduled to hit the shelves until Q4 2013, and that they will be supported in ME 7.6, due out for imminent (?) release.

Anyone shed any light on this? I am beginning to feel like I am being led down the same path as a few years ago when GE told me to replace another 9070, with Genius bus-connected I/O, with an RX7i, only to be told recently, when I went to start ordering RX7i I/O to replace the 9070 cards, that it was unavailable.

Simple Cimplicity 8.2 Task

Hi Everyone,

I am using the Cimplicity 8.2 Advanced viewer. I am trying to do one task in it but
so far not successful.

I want to create two command buttons named as "Increase Count" and "Decrease Count". Then i want to add one "bar graph (Rectangle)" having range from 0 to 100. In addition to the bar Graph, I want its "numeric value" to be displayed in "text string" indicator.

The whole thing should function in the following manner that
whenever i press the "Increase Count" button, the value and the FILL COLOR
in the bar graph should increase and whenever i press the "Decrease Count" button, the value and the FILL COLOR in the bar graph should decrease.

It would be better if anyone do it without using script or might use script if it is necessary to use. The whole setup should work in the TEST SCREEN mode.

Could anyone of you please send me the .cim file to the following email address

controlengineer@live.com

Any help would be greatly appreciated.:)

Horner OIU, 90-70, Genius

I'm hoping there's someone here with a long memory.

Customer has a 90-70 with two Genius bus controllers. One of the busses has three Horner OIU187 HMIs. As far as I can tell from the GBC configuration and the files for the OIU187s, they are getting their data from the PLC by datagrams as there doesn't appear to be any global data associated with them. Based on the addresses configured in the setup, two of the OIU187s would need a single datagram to refresh their data and the third would require two datagrams. They are all set up for 4 datagrams per second.

Lately they have begun to occasionally lock up. They will show asterisks instead of data and the function keys won't respond as they are configured to. They can get unblocked by cycling power to them or by removing/replacing the Genius cable. When that is done they start communicating again, but the act of taking them offline and restoring them generates a fatal fault in the PLC and shuts it down.

When I take one of them offline a "Loss of device" fault shows up in the I/O fault table as expected. When I put it back online I get an "Addition of device" in the I/O fault table and at the same I get a "Configuration Mismatch" in the PLC fault table. That's the fatal fault. It points to the rack/slot location of the GBC.

That same bus has Genius blocks, Field I/O drops, two 90-70 racks with a Genius network interface, and two PCIM cards. The bus is loaded, only Genius SBAs 0, 18 and 30 are unused and the bus scan time is 56 mS. I'm going to calculate the expected scan time based on the number of nodes and the amount of data from each and see how that compares to what the Genius handheld reported.

Nothing jumps out at me in either the 90-70 hardware configuration for the GBC or the file for any of the OIU187s, and the system has been in service for several years.

My current working hypothesis is that the issue has been lurking for a long time and the bus integrity or grounding has deteriorated to the point where noise issues are slowing things down. I'm thinking that the datagrams sent by the OIU187s are stacking up in a buffer and that eventually the buffer overflows causing the OIU187 to lock up.

Does anybody have any experience with this combination and can offer suggestions? I talked to Horner tech support this afternoon and when I asked if I could speak to an "old-timer" the guy I was talking to said that he was the "old-timer" having been there for fifteen years and he wasn't able to offer anything beyond what I've already tried.

iFix Embedded and XP Embedded

Can anyone point me to a good place to get up to speed on the details for iFix embedded and XP embedded and differences between them and standard iFix?

I have a site that has 2 SCADA servers installed on MOXA headless PC's with iFix embedded and I'm looking for basic info on best way to connect to them (RDP to console session?) And any other gotchas I might need to know when trying to work/troubleshoot them.

Customer has comm. issues and is looking for us to come in and find root cause, but with iFix embedded I'm not even sure where the SCADA events get logged...the MOXA's only have 8GB SD cards for local storage, so as far as I know there is no SQL DB there for the alarms and events...they have a master server with iHistorian and SQL that is pulling historical data and Alarms and Events from the MOXA's. I think that uses the A+E OPC connection. Does that connection transmit internal iFix events (the kind used for diagnosing issues) or just alarms?

Any info appreciated,

Greg

Our client recently migrated from a 3.5 to a 5.5 version of iFix.

However on some pages when we do CTRL+P the print is only for the lower baneer. How can we fix this problem, to have the whole page printed (higher baneer, page and alarm baneer)
