Can a Quick Panel View runtime application display grayscale bitmaps?
Background: I have been displaying bitmaps from a Cognex 2D barcode scanner. The scanner transmits the image to a CF card in the QP via FTP. On command I use the "ChangeBitmap" function to refresh the image on the QP. It has been working until I upgraded the firmware on the Cognex scanner. With the new firmware, the "ChangeBitmap" function causes the View runtime application to crash.
I can open and view the bitmap using the QP's built-in image viewer. If I open the bitmap from the Cognex scanner in MS Paint, save it as 256 color bitmap and then send it to the QP, the View runtime application can handle it without any problems.
I'm still experimenting, but it looks like there is something in the grayscale bitmap from the Cognex that the View runtime application doesn't like.
Has anyone else run into this? Does anyone know if it has been addressed in recent Proficy ME versions. The current View Runtime application is PME 7.0, because that's the facility standard at the moment. If something in PME 8.0 or 8.5 fixes the problem it could be ammunition to get the facility to get current with PME.
