OPC local and remote client issue

I have a local OPC client (v 7.31) installed and working ok on an iFix server (v3.0 build 5179). If I open power tool, choose connect to "Local" OPC client driver it connects and I can see all configured OPC server tags (opc server is on local PC). These tags are then available to configure and use in the iFix project

I have set up (including DCOM settings) an OPC client (v7.41) on a remote machine which is getting information (from server on remote machine). If I open power tool (on local PC) and choose connect to "Remote" OPC client driver it connects with an error saying "Open registry failed" however, I click ok then it connects and I can see all tags and current values for the configured tags in remote OPC client.

The issue I have is I can't configure any of these remote OPC tags in the DataBaseManager of the iFix project on the local PC. I've tried different path names / formats in the tag configuration gui of the DataBaseManager but each time it says "IO address rejected by the server". The remote client does not appear in the drop down box for "Driver"

Do the local and remote clients have to be the same version?
Something in my configuration or the "Open registry failed" error?
