Application to transfer data from iHistorian to an other tool for trendnalysis

Hi all

I want to display the trend from analogue inputs no more with iFix but with an other tool (Trendviewer.net)? my questions are: when I work with iHistorian, is it possible to create an application witch transfers real-time and historical data from iHistorian to the other Tool? through OPC for example? or API interface?
will i need visual studio to create it?
I'm new in the domain, and I'm thankful for every small information?
