On a system with a dedicated SCADA and several view nodes where the System.CurrentDate is used on a graphic, does this time come from the individual PC running IFIX or does it come from the SCADA node itself?

GMR and device loss error in series 90-70
hi ,
when i go online with series 90-70 plc , it shows logic equal. but the problem is when i go in the diagnostic of online cpu it shows the following faults :
controller faults :
application message box : GMR version 2.02
and I/o fault table shows :
0.5.3 %AI23 loss of device
it has been almost 20 nodes there on genius bus and plant have been also running on 90-70 for 5 years. why these error are coming ? and how my plant working with these error s if they are indicating some serious problem?

Historian addin 5.5 excel addin problem
We are unable to import new tags into iHistorian using the excel addin. the inport gives an error
We found that the problem was in one of the new columns (for us at least, we recently upgraded from 3.5 to 5.5) called TagID.
This column has a number/letter sequence in it. when we fill in a random sequence the import works.
My question is this:
1) is there an option in V5.5 that we can enable so that iHistorian generates this sequence when we import.
2) if not, is this sequence random ? calculated checksum ? other logic behind it ?

Reuse of previous tag names in Historian 4.5
Accidentaly, I renamed some tags (from iFIX Collector) in our Historian 4.5 database. It seems to me that historical values could be queried by the old tag name, i.e. the tag name is still defined as an alias to the new tagname?
I assume this blocks the old tag name from beeing used in new tags. However, it also seems to block me from renaming the tags back to their original names.
This is problematic, since the tags now have different names in Historian compared to iFix. It also gives problems when browsing for tags, as the actual tags is indicated as not collected.
Are there any tricks or workarounds for this?

Stop timer

Is there any possibility to make a timer in CIMPLICITY to automatic stop the machine in a certain time (Master stop)?
If it not possible inside the app, can I program a new app to do this order?

Cimplicity 8.2 SIM 32
After I upgraded to SIM 32 I have been having issues with random Tag data not available on various screens. The tag will display TEXT. To fix the issue I have to close the screens and reopen. Any one else having this issue? I have mentioned the issue to tech support while dealing with another issue with trending but they seem to have no idea.

Bug in Unacknowledged Alarms

I am working on a project developed in IFIX 5.0. I am using unacknowledged alarms tag in the database(Type:AI, I/O Device: SIM, I/O Address: C:UACKL). And this tag output is sent to the next tag (Type: AO, I/O Device: IGS) and used in the PLC. If the unacknowledged alarms are greater than or equal to 1 , then sounder will be triggered from the PLC.
Now,the issue is, when i acknowledge the alarm messages from the IFIX,in the SIM tag, current value of the tag should go to 0. But for some reason, current value is showing -2. Because of this issue, it is taking 3 unacknowleged alarms to trigger sounder from the PLC. Can someone advise me why the SIM tag value is going to -2? And what are the alarming areas i should look for?

Having a hard time w/animations via vba
Morning all,
I've decided to rework some of my "system overview" screens by adding some animation to some of the objects on the fly via vba...
I followed the e-books fairly well and was able to successfully add an animation to an oval via vba...
Well, kinda...
Here is my code snippet --
The problem I am experiencing is two things...
1st, when I run the code in "Run mode", the animation does not take into the oval object...
If I run the code in dev mode, I can see the oval successfully accepts the foreground animation...
2nd, although the oval accepts the animation after running it in dev mode, the animation does not take place until I go into the animation expert dialog box...
So even after the oval accepts the animation (after running the code in dev) the animation doesn't "animate" until after I go into the animation expert dialog box (if that makes sense?)...
It seems I am possibly missing something in the code to add the animation?
Does the screen need refreshed to "activate" the animation?
Any help with this will be of great use!

iFIX5.8_migration
I'm trying to transfer the existing data(IFIX4.0) to a new computer(IFIX5.8).
but I'm don't know how to do it.
I'm thinking two ways as below.
(A)
install IFIX4.0 to a new computer and restore existing data,
then install IFIX5.8 and upgrade IFIX 4.0 to 5.8.
(B)
install IFIX5.8 to a new computer
then transfer the existing data.
I think plan(A) is easier than plan(B).
but I'm not sure I can get a IFIX4.0 install media.
so I would like to take plan(B).
I know I have to move main data like PIC, HTR, PDB.
Could you tell me what data should be moved other than that?

DGR and Cimplicity 9
First post, be kind!
We are delivering a mostly web based solution to our users, and as such are using the dashboarding features within Vision 6 to present Cimplicity 9 graphical displays (mimics of control screen views for the most part). I am 95% sure I know the answer to this, but can anyone confirm....it is not possible to use DGR within the web hosted elements of Cimplicity, only with client installed tools?
Would be amazing if we could use DGR with a web client, but I suspect this is not possible having read the help/documents.
As a follow on, what is the minimum footprint I'd need on a client machine to enable DGR on a CimEdit generated graphic?
Now I have been reminded of these forums, I suspect I'll be back lots.....

Suppress Save Dialog?
I want to use some self modifying code in a user.fxg VB module, that runs in the run time environment. But when I do this, I get the dialog asking to save the user.fxg when I close workspace. Is there a way to suppress this message for the user.fxg?
The self modifying code I am using does not need to be saved, and I don't want operators seeing the dialog box.

I see a lot of ways to set up two machines as an enhanced fail-over design
So I figured I would ask people who have done it
So what I want is
Machine A and Machine B
Machine B is the Standby Machine with Machine A being the Master
I want to run Windows 7 64 bit Professional on Machine A and Machine B
Now out in the field I have ten thin clients
1. Can they connect directly to Machine A and Fail Over to Machine B
2. Does Machine A and Machine B require Terminal Services
3. Does it require a Terminal Sever Machine and if so why?
4. Would using FAT clients eliminate the Terminal Server Machine
5. If I use FAT clients, and a change is made to the HMI on the Machine A
Do the fat clients PICs get updated automatically
Anything else I should know

VersaMax Micro - Will Connecting RS-232 Connection Affect PLC Operation?
I have a VersaMax IC200UAL005-BG that is currently controlling a unit that is in production.
I need to connect to the RS-232 RJ-45 port to communicate with the PLC but I would like to make sure that this will not affect the operation of the PLC. I have no reason to believe that it will nor have I found any documentation to tell me that it will.
Will the PLC's operation be affected in any way simply by connecting a communication cable to the RS-232 port?

9070 IC697CPM915 Program Loss
The program is gone after a over night power down. Battery voltage is 2.95 Volts.
Using Proficy-Machine edition (Target)(Diagnostics), there is no indication of a battery failure. If I unplug the battery, the card reports (0.1 low battery signal). We are refurbishing a older machine with the 9070 rack. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance - Jerry

RXI Has no firmware
Checked on a project this morning and my RXI controller has nothing in it. No firmware no program and it will not let me set a temporary IP address. Anyone else have this problem?
