Is there any information there for connecting a Bristol 3305 RTU to iFIX 5.1 via a serial link? i think i would be using the BR3 driver? any thoughts?

DB Update Errors
Several times in the past 2 months we have been receiving DB error msg about the DB doing an update. this causes a failure of the setpoint being acted on. this is a redundant server pair running on marathon and has been this way for 3 years. only recently have we been having this issue. i have looked at several forum responses relative to scripts running. we have no scripts running on the screens that are displayed when the errors occur.

I need a help to create a custom application developed in C/C++ on visual studio 2008 using ifix API to access SM2 driver.
I read in ifix ebook that have two files (SM2API.h and SM2API.lib), which I can link my custom application in visual studio c/c++ with iFix SM2 driver. In ifix ebook have a note where say that I must have a toolkit (ifix Integration) installed to can link my application in C to access the SM2 driver.
Anyone have idea or experience with this type of problems.

SQL and Reporting Services
I have Cimplicity 8.2 SIM24. Currently, I am using MS Access linked to the SQL database to provide reports. I would like to move to web-based and use Reporting Services, but that feature did not install when Cimplicity installed the instance of SQL.
So, I think I have to uninstall the SQL instance and re-install to get the Reporting Services. Of course, the first thing I will do is backup the database.
My questions:
1. If I re-install, should I use the same file location?
2. If I use a different location, will I have to reset the ODBCs?
3. If I re-install with a 64-bit SQL Server instance, will it affect Cimplicity?
If anyone has any knowledge to help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Windows login issue
Hi,
I'm using iIFX 5.8, having a strange issue. When iFIX is running and if the PC gets locked automatically then I'm not able to login again (ALT+CTRL_DEL) command is not accepting by the PC. The same issue is found in three different PC's. If I close iFIX and if the PC gets locked there is no issue.
Any Ideas???
The OS used is Windows 7, 64 bit.

I have an iFix 5.0, Historian 3.5 and windows server 2003. I have this for about 3 years now and I need to change the computer name. Is this going to cause any problems with Historian data or iFix?

Someone already used the driver named libmodbus to communication with driver SM2 or other drivers installed on iFix?

No trend chart data if not on local machine
I have just started to configure points that I want to log in the historian and local database.
When I log points for the trend charts they work fine on the Cimplicity machine but the chart data does not appear in any cimview window not on that local PC. The charts do work on points that I haven't logged. I know that when I click log point it then points it to the database. Permissions issue?

VersaMax Micro 40 HSC
I am in the process of setting up a HSC to monitor RPM's on an engine. I am struggling with figuring out how to set up the HSC. I have read the GE literature and just am not seeing what I may be doing wrong.
The HSC setup says the inputs start with %I0489. How do I get my pulse contact mapped to that?
How can I see my RPM's using the Counts/Timebase?
That is all I am doing with the HSC. Counting pulses and using the RPM's for display and control within the program when a certain RPM is reached. Shouldn't be that hard but I am having trouble with it. Thanks in advance.

Supports iFix Stratus Avance?

we are planning to run multiple iFix installations in a virtual environment under the software solution Stratus Avance. Had GE made any statements that iFix can run without problems under Stratus Avance? I searched the iFix docu and the ifix support website but unfortunately I found nothing for this issue.

Capturing eSigs in Tracked vars or SOAReportingDB query
I have a number of tracked variables from a workflow that I use later in an SSRS report, but I need to include a couple of eSignatures and their associated date/time stamps in this report, too. I see two options:
1) Query from SOAReportingDB.
2) Capture into eSignature & date/time tracked variables.
The former would be my preference, but I am not understanding how to build this query for inclusion of the eSignature tables relating to specific Workflow Task Instances.
Any help would be appreciated,

Cimp 8.2 high CPU usage on viewer
We are just ready to roll out a new server/viewer architecture in Cimplicity 8.2 SIM 23. We have two workstations in the control room that each have 4 monitors (2 30" and 2 24") on dual nVidia Quadro NVS 295 video cards. With 4 screens open, I note that our CPU usage is typically between 40 and 50%, and performance is suffering. I have decreased the screen resolution from the default of 2560 x 1600 to 1280 x 960; it is an improvement, but the CPU usage is still over 40%. We had no such issues (that we could see) under Cimplicity 8.0 server, running on the same hardware; Dell T3500, Xeon 2.4 GHz processors, 24 GB RAM. Our Dell PowerEdge servers are showing < 4% CPU usage with the same 4 screens open, and no high-power video cards.
Anyone run into anything similar that could shed some light on this? :confused:

CPE310 Stuck in Awaiting Firmware Mode
I have an IC695CPE310, RX3i CPU, that developed an issue after trying to update the firmware to 7.80. I have done the update on several other occassions, and followed the instructions for a USB update, but when I power cycled the unit it booted up with the three upper lights blinking in unison. The manual states that this is the "Awaiting Firmware" mode. The unit has been rendered completely useless. Has anyone seen this before? Is there anything that can be done?

Automatically change scan time
I am using iFIX 5.5 and I would like to automatically modify the scan time of some variables depending of the situation.
For instance, I would like to have a faster scan time for the variables that are in the opened pictures and a slower scan time for the variables that are not shown in the opened pictures. Of course that I won't change the scan time of some important variables and alarms, because some events are important for the operation of the process.
Is there any way to do such thing automatically, I mean, without going to the block on the database and manually changing the scan time?
Another alternative that I have is disabling the scan of some variables if they are not shown in the opened pictures. Is there any way to disable a TAG scanning automatically, I mean, without going to the block on the database and manually disable its scan?

Cimplicity Trend chart keeps prompting historian password
I am having some issues with the trend chart on cimplicity, every time I make an update to it, it prompts for the historian username and password. I leave it blank and the trend line shows correctly. If I scroll the time or refresh the trend chart it prompts for the password again. Am I missing some configuration?

I am using the ODBC alarm service, and have done so successfully for some years.
I am now looking to improve our alarm management providing better analytical reports and dash boards.
One of the areas I need to include is response time.
Reading he help files it seems that the message types has a value of ACKNOWLEDGE, however I dont quite understand from the documentation how you can add this to the column configuration for SQL tables.
The column configuration for the alarm odbc service has a value to Message Type. In SQL I get the values to OPERATOR, ALARM, EVENT and TEXT, but nothing for ACKNOWLEDGE.
I do get the ALARM is acknowledged by node name in the description ALM_DESCR with an OPERATOR message type However this does not give the tag name in the ALM_TagName.
How do I get the ACKNOWLEDGE message type into the ODBC alarm service column so that it will add a value to SQL table column message type when the alarm is acknowledged, with the tagname also populating the ALM_TAGNAME.
Reference to the Help file search for 'message type', the title is Selecting Specific Alarm and Message fields.

Local mode in devices controlled by DC2S
Hi all,
We have motors controlled by the block DC2S, several of they have a local mode (control from push button in electrical cabinets).
When a motor is changed to local mode and controlled from push buttons, block DC2S does not follow feedback inputs and go to error (fault). The most suitable is that the activation of input LC change in some way the internal logic to follow the feedback, but it is not working well.
Any idea or help would be appreciated.

I have a problem. I have to make a project on QuickPanelView for a russian customer, and the Windows CE in the Panel has only one language installed - English (US). Is there any way to install some other languages, like Russian?
