Write to CA block PA Input field from VBA

Hello,

Would anyone be able to provide an example of writing a value to a calculation block's PA input field from VBA? When iFix starts I want to capture some values in these fields and use the values in the resulting calculation. Any help is appreciated.

Historian 5.5 Excel Add In Incompatible with Visual Studio?

I have Visual Studio 2013 installed, and when I install and activate the Historian 5.5 Excel Add In I get an error message upon opening Excel "Compile error in hidden module: Utilities." Upon opening a spreadsheet with iHistorian queries, I get dozens of error messages, "Compile error in hidden module: Functions." and no data loads.

I thought this was some random problem with software on my machine but in testing I have created new VMs running Windows 8.1 with VS installed and they have the same problem when the Excel Add In is installed.

Is there a way to work around this error?

How to re-install Powerlink (v 5.00) or make the OPC server open

When I try to open the OPC Server (hosted in Start: All Programs/Powerlink Advantage/OPC Servers when Powerlink is installed after Cimplicity) it immediately shuts down.

I want to know what the problem might be, or otherwise, how to re-install Powerlink in a proper way, because when I did, OPC server worked but Powerlink crashed while I was trying to restore a project. As you may know, I need both working properly.

Software Information:
Powerlink Advantage V 5.00
Cimplicity V 8.1
MS SQL Server 2008
Windows 7 Professional 32 bits.

HELP with objects in differents versions

OK folks.. I was just asked to duplicate an animated object that was created in 5.5 and they need it created in 5.1, an earlier version. Aside from telling me to have them upgrade, is there anyway to copy and then Paste from one version to an earlier version ?
I know this is 'different' but I really don't want to re-create it because the animation is somewhat complicated.

Redundant ifix collectors

Hello message board, I am in need of some assistance regarding redundant ifix collectors used with Proficy Historian...

We have 2 SCADAs, (SCADA1 and SCADA2) using Enhanced Failover/Redundancy and each have an ifix collector and an A&E collector installed locally.

First off, here are some snapshots of our collector config --

Is this the correct configuration for redundant collectors that live locally to the SCADA servers, or is collector redundancy to be used with collectors NOT on the SCADA server machines but pointing to them?

The issue we are having is that when SCADA1 fails over to SCADA2, the SCADA2 collector will not "collect" data and his report rate will not flatline but will be stuck at "60"?

I can also see that the "Active/Standby" redundancy state displayed in the hist admin will track accordingly...

With the latest iFIX SIM, (workspace 23), I see the utility ihfixctl.exe and from this I can start and stop my SCADA2 collector just fine, so it appears the collector is not hung up and is in-fact responsive.

If I remove the collector redundancy in the hist admin, I can see SCADA2 will start to push his data...

We have tried multiple calls to GE, tweaked, configured, and pulled our hair out to no end...

On a side note, it doesn't appear we are having issues with our A&E collector, just issues with our ifix collectors/data...

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Problem with Historical object in iFix v5.8

I have a problem with the Historical Chart object in iFix v5.8

I have a iFix v5.0 project I want to convert to iFix v5.8.
In this project, I have a screen for historical trending, and on this screen, I have a HIstorical chart object.
In iFix v5.0, in runtme, when I double-click on the object, go to the chart tab, and select the Time tab, I was able to select manually enter Start Date, Start Time and when I hit OK, the chart would change according to the selection I made.
If I do the same with iFix v5.8, I can still do all my selections, but when I hit OK, the chart object doesn't change to the specified date and time.

If I do all the above by scripts, it works.

I'm using iFix v5.8, with SP1 pack installed, and Classical Historian (not Proficy Historian or iHistorian) for this project. I also have installed iFIX58_DatabaseManager_002 SIM.

Any idea on how to solve this?

As I read, VisiconX Combo Box display data from database but I would know if a combobox exists to display texts from a text list and according to the item chosen, the value of a tag changes?

ptmdp.exe will consume more memory resource under cimp 8.2 than under cimp8.0

We find that the Cimplicity HMI process ptmdp.exe will consume more memory resource under cimp 8.2 than under cimp8.0. If someone else have the same experience. And if there are any issue on the 8.2 version.
Project1: Cimp8.0 Sim13: device 22,point 6178, ptmdp.exe mem 12MB
Project2: Cimp8.0 SIM13: device 52,point 12506, ptmdp.exe mem 21MB
Project3: Cimp8.2 Sim21: device 17,point 5456, ptmdp.exe mem 110MB
Project4: Cimp8.2 Sim21: device 102,point 31559, ptmdp.exe mem 660MB

These four projects are built in the different time but they are use the same method to collect data from different production line.

I have not tested what will happed if I upgrade the project 1 &2 to Cimp8.2.

Is there a way to bump out DelayAutomaticAfterManualSwitch further than 60 seconds?

I see that TimeSyncRateMilliseconds can accept a value of 180000 (180 sec) but using the 1:2 ratio the Failover manual says to use is not possible because DelayAutomaticAfterManualSwitch can only accept a maximum value of 60 (sec)...

The reason I ask is we just troubleshot our manual failover button issue (ping ponging) and found our issue was we had a value of 180000 in TimeSyncRateMilliseconds and a value of 360 in DelayAutomaticAfterManualSwitch ...

Changing the values to 30000 in TimeSyncRateMilliseconds and 60 in DelayAutomaticAfterManualSwitch fixed our ping pong issue, but I was just curious if there is a way to bump out the DelayAutomaticAfterManualSwitch further...

Any advice helps!

To upload configuration from PCM301, in procedure it is mention that,

>Connect a PC running termf to the PCM using a standard PC - PCM cable, give the PCM a hard reset - push the button for more than 7 seconds.

What is possibility of erasing configuration from PCM module by hard reset as above?
How to erase configuration from PCM module?
I need pinout of of standard PC- PCM cable.

90/30

hi,
I have a 90/30 PLC that is causing some issues on start up .
for the last couple of morning on start up the machine doent want to run when i go to look a it connect it tells me the programs ar not equal. Even tough i know they were equal the day before . I try an upload the program to make them equal but I get and Error 8262 which says timer file not valid ?? the only way i can get the machine running again is a full stop and download of the program I have stored for the machine. It all a bit starnge and i havent seen this before. I am wondering in my memory starting to fail in the CPU and on start up corupting my program. I have Changed out the battery and the power supply just to rule them out but time will tell.
Any ideas? The CPU is quite old and so is the machine.
Any info would be much appreciated

Licensing v14.8.4xx should be released next week at the completion of testing. The focus of this build is improving the functionality and stability when used with the new Advantage hardware keys.
There will be a complete set of release notes posted on the download page at the time of release, but if you are using Advantage HW keys, i'd consider this update "Mandatory."

We are updating to the latest SafeNet drivers and libraries, and are improving the detection of the new Advantage keys.

One-shot data collection using trigger?

Anybody figure out how to use a trigger tag to get a one-shot type data collect?
For example, I have a User-Defined tag, with 10 elements. I have a trigger tag in my PLC that changes to a 1 for approx. 5 seconds when I want to save those values (state change in my batch).
When that trigger tag goes to a 1, I want 1 set of "batch" data. Not 2 or three sets, just one.
My choice on the Trigger tag seem to be limited to "= 1". No obvious one-shot capability.

I have fooled around with different compressions and Polled/Unsolicited settings for both the trigger tag and the UDT, and so far have not been able to guarantee that I always get just 1 set of data...
if I set the Poll time on the UDT too short, I may miss data.
If I set the Poll time on the UDT to be too long (maybe 6 seconds) then I will usually get 2 sets of identical data stored back-to-back.... which make reporting on that data more difficult... somehow I need to filter out those second instances of the same data.
I know that with some post-processing I can certainly filter those duplicates out,
or, if I have iFIX involved I can do the triggering in there and only send 1 send of data (create a file collector file on the iFIX node),
but I'm looking for a cleaner, easier up-front solution if it exists.

Ip duplicate problem in Cimplicity

Hi

We have two Pcs ( Workstations ). One as master and other as slave. The master Pc work good with cimplicity and give all reading and data. Other slave faced a problem which is black cimplicity reading ( no data ).

So, I did the following steps:
1- I took a backup with Acronis for Master Pc.
2- I restore it to Slave Pc.
3- I I solate Master Pc from Network.
4- I connect slave to the network and it's run PERFECT.
5- I connect Master Pc to the network without isolate Master Pc.
6- I see a notification which says IP duplicate in the network.
7- I changed slave Pc to it's original IPs but the network didn't recognise it!!!.

So please help me for how to make the network recognise the old IPs.

How to test(or simulate) using Cimplicity OPC

I have to see how the Cimplicity OPC server works but I am new with OPC and nobody here knows how to.

What should I need to test how the Cimplicity OPC works?
Should I have to find also a 3rd party tool to interact with the OPC client?

First, I want to try it without using real devices. But I need to integrate it with a project and check that works.

Also, is there an available tutorial which explains the use for starters?
I couldn´t find anyone through the internet.

Software Information:
Cimplicity V 8.1
MS SQL Server 2008
Windows 7 Professional 32 bits.

90-30 cpu 364 and egd communications

I am trying to determine if a 90-30 364 cpu can actually do egd communications
I have currently connected a rx7i to an 90-30 and the 90-30 reads the data from the rx7i but the rx7i doesn't read the data from the 90-30. I have the lastest firmware installed in the cpu 364. Any ideas?

Also can anyone confirm that that cpu 372 or 374 will do egd. I will upgrade if they will do egd and and I cant with the 364.

IC200UDR140 Serial Port

I wonder which means the code 16#0607 (Hex) indicating the serial port 1, when interrogating a device on a Modbus RTU network. I have a CPU UDR140-DD.

I am using RS232 at a distance of 3 meters and only with a device.

IGS Siemens Dynamic Adressing

I can't get Dynamic Addressing to work with the following setup. ("I/O address entered was rejected by the server")
iFix5.8 (Trial)
IGS 7.514 (Trial) - Siemens TCP/IP Ethernet driver (Talking to a S7-200)
I/O address example: S7.TOOL1.I1.1

I have another system with iFix5.5 and IGS 7.58 and it works just fine.

I can build a reference tag in IGS and that works but I don't want to do that thousands of times.

Any known issues/workarounds?
