Point Referencing (for Proficy View)

I'm sure this may have been posted before, but I can not seem to find it.

I am currently using the toolchest for linked objects where I create a graphic that inherits a Data Type Structure from used variables that I am deeming my global HMI Variables. When placing the linked object graphic on a panel, I am prompted to create a new variable utilizing the data structure. On the linked object I also have a hidden buttons to open Global PopUp Panels for the specific Data Type.

My question is, How do you go about linking the data type variable referenced on the landed linked object to the PopUp panel?

If this is as clear as mud please let me know.
