Trying to connect to PLC via TCP/IP

We have a vacuum pressure test machine(the PLC), Sentinel I-28 is the name. My options on the machine itself are serial and telnet connections. I have a PC with iFix 5.8 installed. The PLC sends the data in ASCII. If I just want to look at data, I just open up ms-dos and telnet to the machine. But I want to be able to get the data into iFIX, likely using telnet port 23, as that seems to be the only TCP/IP connection.
