Which iFix 4.0 Layout is being used?

iFix 4.0 with Desktop;
I'm working on SCADAs for a company that has several different layout files (*.lyt). I want to go into each of the SCADAs and determine which *.lyt file is being used. These SCADAs don't have configuration keys. Can I find this info in one of the *.ini files?

Can not Absolute Setpoint an array variable? infuriating experience!

I have a Machine Edition PLC variable that is a boolean array with size of 5:
ME_array

I have a Cimplicity 8.2 variable talking to the PLC via ProficyDriverServer protocol (Symbolics). The variable is a boolean array and the size of 5 as well:
CIM_array

I tried to Absolute Setpoint:
CIM_array[0]
to:
1
and CimEdit stubbornly give me:
Invialid setpoint value for point '\\Project_Name\CIM_array'[0]

virtual array point works with no error
creating a cimplicity point specifically pointing to ME_array[0] works with no error

What is going on here!

Windows 7 Proficy ME Run as Standard User

Hi all,

I think I already know the answer but I am hoping someone can help. The company I work for does not allow users to have elevated privilages on their computers so all applications must run as a standard user.
My understanding is Machine Edition only runs as an Administrator.
I have tried to SHIM the application with no luck, does anyone know if there is a way it can be run with normal access rights or if not what the application is accessing that would require the elevated privilages?
If I can determin what areas of the C: drive are being accessed and the Registry I may be able to get the administrators to change the setting to allow access to these areas.

SetLanguage script in iFIX v5.8

Hello!

I am trying to do the multilanguage system. I found 3 ways doing it in e-books. I want to configure the global language for all pictures (example 1 in e-book) but in my project SetLanguage script is missing.

Now I do not know if I am missing some global scripts in project or installation.
Do I need to install some extra functions?

If anybody can help me I would be very thankful.

How to set restart the cimplicity port process?

I have a problem of cimplicity port process that is sometimes cut of communication with plc.
This protocol driver has been designed by ourself.
and the driver is running normal in the cimplicity version 6.0.
but if I will setup in the cimplicity version 8.0, the driver is be broken sometimes.
the computer shows the instruction at "Ox7c92100b" referenced memory at "Ox00000034".The memory could not be "read" .
and the image name of the computer system process has nothing the driver exe file.
The process port of process control of cimplicity shows master port process halt.
if it is be start process, the port process will be ok.

so I have configrated the master of node process of the process healthe parameters to restart port process.
but sometimes it will useful. It's no always help for the port restart.

Any guys,Could you have any solutions for my issue?

I hope it has any vbscipts or other ways to figure out this current circumstance.

Suppress Error Number: - 2147187524

When I open my application right after the launch of iFix I get a umber of pop-ups:

"Workspace Application

Error Number: -2147187524
Field's value not known

OK"

I just press OK - and after 8 of those messages it works. If I keep iFix running and stop and start the WorkSpace - I dont get these pop-ups any more.

I have tried to locate them - but it is difficult. My code is repeating - so eventually when data is available, there is no error.

What exactly does this error mean?

And can I suppress this particular message?

Background: It is all related to slow driver performance - caused by RockWell FirmWare V21. I have done tests - and together with KepWare support found out that it seems that "Logical Blocking" as Protocol Mode helps a lot - but still it is not as good as before (FirmWare20 or Siemens S7A for that matter) - where none of there errors occurred.

Read through all tags in my database

Can I somehow in VBA extract the tag names in my iFix-database?

I want to read all tags once at startup - but I dont want to "hardcode" all the tag names. I want to make a loop that runs through the entire database and make a "readvalue" on every tag.

How is that done?

Database Manager: Connection NOT established

I'm trying to access a SCADA SERVER database from a REMOTE SCADA which has a configuration key so I can manipulate the database.

Both systems are running iFIX 5.5 with TCP/IP Network Configuration.

I've added the SERVER's ip and computer name to the REMOTE SCADA's host file.
I've added the SERVER's SCADA node name to the REMOTE SCADA's Network Configuration.
I've rebooted the REMOTE SCADA.

When I attempt to access the SERVER's database with the REMOTE SCADA's database manager, the SCADA SERVER's SCADA node name shows up as an available node but I get this error when I attempt to open it;

Database Manager Connection NOT established

What am I missing?

Analog Input (AI) vs Analog Alarm (AA)

Hi,

I'm curious what's the difference between the Analog Input (AI) and the Analog Alarm (AA)? It seems to me that the AA can do everything the AI can do plus more. Is the SAC time or scan cycle different between the 2 types? Is it better to use all AA even though you might not use all of its fields (but potentially might use it in the future)? Are people still using exclusively AI or are more going towards AA for all analogs?

Networking license

Hello,
My customer got Ifix license set (3 clients and 1 scada). All 3 client licenses has "networking option", but scada dongle does not. Is "networking option" is needed for scada pc to be able to make connection from view clients?

Historian linked server in SQL Server

Good day,

I have a problem where by from time to time if via SQL Server and using Historian linked server I query historian at the same time that the queries lock. I can still run the query on the historian via the historian SQL tool but I am not able to run any SQL queries using the linked server on the sql server any more. Be it from reports or programs or in SQL Server itself.

I try and kill the Process Id in SQL Server that is locked or lost and it just sits with Killed/Rollback forever until eventually I reboot the server, which is clearly not ideal in a Prod environment.

How can I kill this locked Process without rebooting the server? As right now I can run nothing that queries the Historian any more. Is there a way to locate this locked connection on the historian side and kill it there? Surely there must be a solution to this or a solution for the future so this does not happen again.

Please can someone help.

MBE 7.x Primary Card

I'm replacing a SCADA running XP with a new machine running Win 7 32-bit. One of the drivers is the MBE 7.x driver, to talk to several temperature controllers (eight devices, 56 datablocks total). The computer has one Ethernet card, configured for DHCP. The other devices have static IP's.

The Primary Card Number list is not displaying correctly. It SHOULD list only card 0, the onboard network adapter, "Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network".

Instead, I get a list of 22 different cards, many with different MAC addresses. In this case, Card Number 0 has the description "WAN Miniport (IPv6)". Below that is a message that includes "Not bound to any IP address. Check your network cable." It's as if it's listing every single service associated with that one network adapter.

This identical setup worked fine on the old XP computer. Is there something I should be looking at in the Windows 7 setup for the onboard network adapter?

Displaying DATE_AND_TIME variable

Hello, I am using Proficy Machine Edition, and I am being requested to record the date and time at anytime a user presses a Reset button and display the date and time along side the button on the HMI.

I have created the DATE_AND_TIME variable, and using VBScript I can store the date and time using the "Now()" function. But I cannot figure out how to display it along side the button - none of the objects will compile with this DATE_AND_TIME variable.

I tried converting this variable to a string, but haven't been able to do that using "DateValue" and other functions without the application crashing.

Using Rx3i CPU320 for SOE with Analog inputs

Hi,

I was wondering if this would be posible, to use Rx3i CPU320 with 4 digital inputs for SOE and 3 ALG223 modules.

I tried this, however, I noticed that %IA values are not correct, with most values 0.
I don't know if this is posible with some register configuration, or its not really posible. Worth trying though.:)

Any advice how to correct the issue, greatly appreciated.

Onchange event on local variable

iFix 5.5

How can I fire an onchange event on a local variable from VB.
I want it to happen when I switch from configure to run mode.

I have a check in "Fire datachange event on startup" in user preferences. But it doesn't seem to fire the onchange event on a local variable placed in a dynamo.

Is anyone running iFix 3.5 on Windows 7 successfully?

I have about 20 iFix 3.5 nodes on Windows XP.
Company wants to Migrate to Windows 7.
Cost to upgrade keys is beyond plant budget.

Has anyone run iFix 3.5 on Windows 7 successfully?
Any suggestions welcome.

PLC's are A-B SLC, PLC-5 and ControlLogix.

FIX32 not resolving TGE?

In short i'm migrating a FIX7.0 system to iFix5.1 and when i converted TGE files to TGD something quite bothering happens:
in FIX there is no error with TGE substitution when opening picture
after conversion of that picture and TGE to TGD some entries can't be substituted.
Now didn't FIX check all substitutions in TGE when opening a picture?
